I Am a Little Divided, Do I Stay or Run Away?
"Twenty years later, Nolan Ryan's job is to once again revitalize the Texas Rangers.
The Rangers introduced the Hall of Fame pitcher as team president Wednesday with the fanfare of a major free-agent pickup, just as Ryan was in 1988 when Texas signed the right-hander to help fill seats and bring wins to the struggling franchise. Only now, the 61-year-old career strikeout leader who set many of his greatest milestones in a Rangers jersey is tasked with doing the same from the front office."

Robin Ventura, this is your warning, sir. I'm not sure if you were planning on visiting Arlington at any point in the near future, but unless your intinerary includes a few uppercuts from a 61-year old, I would stay far, far away. Again, this is the last warning you will receive, Mr. Ventura.

I liked this quote: "Texas tried to bolster its rotation last month by signing free agent Jason Jennings, who grew up in Dallas watching Ryan pitch." Yes! How can you top a 2-9, 6.45 season? I'm interested in Jennings (he went to Baylor), but I'm not sure how much he'll do to bolster the rotation.
What does that say about the Rangers? Instead of Johan or C.C., we get Jennings. Are we irrelevant in the pitching arena?
Jeremy,
Let's just say this: The Rangers starting rotation right now is Millwood, Padilla, Jennings, McCarthy, and Kason Gabbard.
I'm pretty sure Nolan could pop a few of those Advils that he is always selling and take the #3 spot in the rotation. He's only 61, after all.
On the bright side, Reds fans referred to Josh Hamilton, the likely starting centerfielder on Opening Day, as Roy Hobbs. So, at least we have that going for us.
As always, the Rangers are following after the Houston Astros. Jason Jennings as well as Nolan Ryan for the 2nd time.
I sad as this might sound, I would be COMPLETELY fine with the Rangers also following the Astros to the World Series in the next few years.
Winning it? That would just be icing on the cake.
