I've Been Waiting on My Own too Long

To start today's post I have a long-term prediction. One of my daily duties during my internship with the President's Office is to read the Wall Street Journal in search of articles pertaining to higher education. These are few and far between, but I do enjoy reading The Journal each day. One of the names that continues to surface on a daily basis is that of Eliot Spitzer, the New York Attorney General.

Spitzer has been a common figure in the headlines for his crusade against corporate malfeasance and misdeeds, particularly the wrongdoings of former NYSE Chief Dick Grasso. Due to his reputation as an Attorney General who fights for the "little guy", Spitzer has gained a large-scale following in the Democratic Party and has begun to campaign for his party's nomination in the race for Governor of New York in 2006. I am predicting right now that Spitzer will be the Presidential Candidate for the Democratic Party in the 2012 election. I believe that in order for the Democrats to regain control of the Legislative and Executive Branches they must learn to reconnect with the "everyman" roots of their party that served leaders like FDR so well.

Current Listening: "White Ladder" by David Gray.

I was incredibly pleased to see the Longhorns clinch their 4th straight (32nd overall) appearance in the College World Series with a win over Ole Miss tonight. Armed with a closer with a name like J. Brent Cox, I think they are destined for greatness.

Dear Justin,

Two things jump out at me as I read your blog. I will address them in two seperate comments. First, Mr. Eliot Spitzer will not be the Democratic candidate in 2012. It will be Mr.Barack Obama, U.S. Senator from Illinois. Just listen to a few accomplishments from his earlier years: born in Hawaii, early schooling done in Hawaii and Indonesia, graduated college from Columbia University, graduated from Harvard Law School where he was the first African American editor of the Harvard Law Review, served as Illinois State Senator for 7 years. I have not seen a resume like that since Johnny Cochran. Now to the second order of business on the agenda...

Pope Coleman Greer the 1st,

Mr. Spitzer graduated from Princenton University in 1981, Harvard Law School in 1984, where he was also editor of the Law Review, and has done a fantastic job I might say of cleaning up the sometimes shadowy world of corporate finance and trade in NYC.

Second,
The University of Texas Longhorn baseball team isn't destined for greatness this year my friend. I will give them credit for making it to Omaha for the fourth consecutive year though. Mr. J.Brent Cox will choke in Omaha just like he did in game 1 of the super regional. Last night, he was shaky in his appearance. Does the name Luke Hochevar ring a bell? As long as my mind is not playing games with me, he is the number 1 pitcher for the Tennessee Volunteers. Just look at these stats: 15-2 record(while pitching in the hardest baseball conference in America), 2.09 ERA, 3 complete games, and opponent's batting average is a miserable .198. If he does not get college baseball player of the year that will be the greatest tragedy since Peyton Manning got robbed of the Heisman. Charles Woodson SUCKS!!!!! The Vols will dominate Florida(the vols took 2 out of 3 at Gainesville earlier this year) behind Hochevar, come back with Freshman All-American James Adkins and beat upstart Arizona State, then beat Florida again to make it to the final series against Tulane. In a three game series, Tulane will be no match. Two game sweep by the Vols. The offense will continue rolling from the super regional and Mr. Sean Watson will close the door on the Green Wave. Long live the SEC!

Scotty J-

Mr. Spitzer's duty to clean up NYC corporate finance and trade is nothing but a walk in the park. If NYC wanted a real-go-getter, Miss. Jozell Brister would have gotten the job.

Coleman,

In all of your training and lifting this summer I think you are leaving out one thing: Getting Real!! Please do that right now. Brandon Maenius's high school teammate Seth Johnston and my man Taylor Teagarden are going to lead the Longhorns to victory.

Scotty J,

Get real, come on!!! Since becoming SA president you have been in another atmosphere known as La-La Land. Quit singing "You make me wanna La-La" with Ashley Simpson and come back to Earth. Teagarden-what kind of name is that? Does he like to have tea in a garden? If so, tell him to move to Britain. Augie Garrido would get his butt kicked in a street fight by Vols coach Rod Delmonico. Maybe that is what 'ol Augie needs after his class-less move by not going out to accept the runner-up trophy last year in Omaha.

Coleman,

Maybe Augie couldn't get up to receive the runner-up trophy because all of his past National Championships rings were weighing him down. Just a thought.

P.S. I think Elvis wrote a song about Smokie. It is entitled "You Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog."

Scotty J-

I know for a fact that Augie's one national championship ring with Texas, which is one more than Tennessee baseball has, was not holding him back from getting that trophy. Augie admitted that when he just does not get his way he pulls Mack Brown out of his back pocket and they whine, complain, and try to consule each other. Which also brings to attention the fact that he and Mack Brown are always together. I think the statement "steers and queers" really does apply to Texas.

Griff the 1st,

I believe Mr. Augie has won 4 National Championships, 1 at Texas and 3 at Cal-State Fullerton. In addition to that impressive accomplishment, he is also the winningest coach in Division I Baseball History. If only he could teach Mack to seal the deal as well. Alas....

JTS-

Sorry, for not looking into Augie's past with other schools. That is why I said A national championship with Texas. I think Cal-State Fullerton has gotten along just fine without him. Let me back track about Mack Brown. He needs to win a Big 12 championship before he thinks about a national championship. The only reasons they were in the Rose Bowl last year was because they were second best in the Big 12 and are good at crying about things so they can get their way.
