Get Sick, Get Well, Hang Around an Ink Well

Ol' Bruce played a pretty darn good version of "10th Avenue Freeze Out" tonight at halftime of some football game in Tampa Bay, but that's not the first time he's done that.

As entertaining as the Fitzgerald-Holmes touchdown trade-off was, I'm still going with this as the most exciting sports-related moment of the day.

Fernando Torres, spreading the Spanish language all over Northwest England.

See, from your point of view I would have thought that the most exciting "play" would have been when the ref basically handed you the game by sending off Lampard for nothing whatsoever.

Not that I'm bitter.

John,

As much as this might surprise you, the collective reaction where I was watching the match was "Mike Riley: It's good to see Rafa mailed the check before the match kicked off."

I don't usually have much sympathy for Chelsea, but a straight red for that was a completely undeserved.

With that said, how in the world does Bosingwa get away without a straight red (plus a multi-game suspension) after placing fresh cleat marks in the middle of Benayoun's back?

Bosingwa deserved a red, no doubt. Maybe the ref felt bad about being on the take and wasn't willing to give another.

That doesn't balance out the issue, though - if Lamps wasn't sent off, then we have a totally different game, and presumably Bosingwa isn't getting mad at Benayoun (who, by the way, looks like he's 15) for wasting time in the corner.

Although you guys had the upper hand for a while, it sure would have been nice to see how the game would have played out if allowed to continue as intended - you know, instead of a Liverpool power play for the entire second half.

John,

I agree that the Lampard red did swing the match in Liverpool's favor, but let's be honest here: They could still be playing that match and there's no way Chelsea is actually putting one past Reina.

The best the Blues could have hoped for was a nil-nil draw because they looked absolutely toothless on Sunday.

Perhaps Quaresma will provide some verve in the attack, but since he's cup-tied in the Champions League, it will be interesting to see how they attack a usually stout Juventus defense later this month.
